ROSA MOLINA
The mother of two children, roots grenadines born in Zaragoza, I've always felt a special interest in science and the why of things, possibly influenced by my family environment. My mother is a biologist, and my father, a paleontologist, what piqued my curiosity since I was little. While I was initially intended to pursue a career in pure sciences as Physics or Biochemistry, I ended up decantándome by a field more mixed as the Medicine, and finally for their branch more humanistic psychiatry.
The Fascination for the Study of the Brain and the Mind
I've always found fascinating move forward in a field full of unknowns: the brain, the mind (or the soul) and its construction in society. The possibility of contributing to this advancement, along with the opportunity to help other people, I found it a perfect combination that motivated me to choose this specialty.
Academic background and International Experience
After the end of the career of Medicine with several stays abroad, I realized the specialty in Psychiatry at the University Hospital Clínico San Carlos of Madrid. Years later, I completed my phd Thesis at the University Complutense of Madrid, entitled "Structural and Functional Neuroimaging in Disorders of eating Behavior", in collaboration with the University of Melbourne (Australia), where I also took out an external rotation.
From a very young age I had the opportunity to travel, something that I felt even more necessary for my expertise as a psychiatrist. Getting to know different cultures, health systems and contexts has allowed me to better understand the complexity of this field, providing a broader perspective and enriching to my work.
Commitment to Mental Health
Currently I practice as a psychiatrist in the Public Health System, working under the ideal of ensuring the mental health of the whole population. I combine my work in health care with teaching activities at the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM) and the Pontifical University of Comillas, in addition to doing research and the dissemination of medical.
Disclosure Of Medical
Coinciding with the pandemic and motivated by my sister, the doctor in dermatology Ana Molina (@dr.anamolina), encouraged me to explore the world of social networks, a field that had been averted, but turned into a tool ideal for the disclosure of medical. Through my accounts @dr.rosamolina and @depielacabezain addition to the podcast, associate, I touch on themes related to the mental health of dynamically and accessible. My goal is to transfer knowledge to the population, contribute to the prevention and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
Author of Books and a Contributor to Media
I have published two books: “A mind with a lot of body” and “Your microtraumas”, both under the seal of the editorial PAIDOS (Planet). In addition, I am a regular contributor on radio and television programs, as RNE (Morning with Mamen Asensio) and RTVE (To Know How To Live).
Always interested in share and interact, I'll wait for you here by my networks. Do you join?
